The Queen of Egypt, wife of Tutankhamen
For the most part ancient Egyptians, both males and females would shave
their hair, a necessity in a climate and environment that was both hot
and potential for infections of lice. The ancient Egyptians became
experts in weaving wigs. Their style is timeless, having been borrowed
by modern women, starting in the early twentieth century with the
discovery of tombs in the Valley of the Kings. The 1920s were
characterized by a representation of Egyptian beauties by 20s starlets,
the vamps of the silver screen, including Theda Bara.
